Friday, April 18th - Last day - At Sea!

Another sleep in!  Today’s announcements include lots of information about disembarkation in Houston tomorrow and we have to put suitcases outside the door tonight.  We arrive in port at 7am and the crew have to get us off and board the next passengers for the same cruise leaving tomorrow afternoon!

We decided to attend the ‘$2000 Snowball Jackpot Bingo’ at 11.30 – only to lose our money but it certainly was entertaining!  We ate lunch at the Coral Dining Room and then I noticed that the Caribe Café was having a ‘Pastry Extravaganza’ from noon-2pm and we thought we should check it out!  WOW is all I can say.  Those chefs went to A LOT of effort and we tasted as many as we could by asking for ‘small pieces’ but I don’t think they know what that is!  Uncle Frank would have said it was ‘Oozing with calories!’  It was fantastic!!!

Flew back to our stateroom with premium balcony – and tried to pack and get organised.  We were so full from the pastry extravaganza (not a bad thing!) that we thought we’d go for a later dinner.   Went for our last 24K margarita in Crooner’s Bar, with our friendly wait-staff – Mario from Goa, India and the beautiful Grace, from the Phillippines.  It was crowded.  Then David noticed a dear old lady with a walking cane, standing by herself, looking around – so he offered her a seat with us.  She turned out to be Mrs Thelma Middleton from Houston, Texas.  She was on the front page of the ‘Princess Patter’ (the daily newsletter) today as the ‘Most Traveled Princess Passenger’ on board – 1060 days! She told us that she had been sailing the world for 30 years and this was her 129th cruise.  I asked her what was her favourite place/s – she said St Petersburg and Beijing, but that was many years ago – they’ve changed of course, now.  She was telling us that she was so pleased Princess was sailing again out of Houston and that she’d booked a room on all 4 sailings this month!  She came to Crooner’s Bar every afternoon and the staff knew her table and usually had it set up for her, but obviously today had been busy – especially with an extended Spanish family – and the bar was very crowded.  So she was pleased to be able to sit with us and marvelled that we were from ‘so far away’ in Australia.  Of course, she’d cruised Australia once upon a time.

We left to go to the Princess Theatre for the evening production show called ‘Born to be Wild’.  They were only doing 2 shows tonight – one at 7 and one at 8.15pm.  We thought we’d go to the early show then go for dinner, seeing as we’d pigged out at the pastry pit!!!

We’d thought that the previous two shows were excellent – well, this one out-did both of them.  It was brilliant – and we knew the words to every song except 2.  It was based around a theme with a pink Cadillac – which was centre stage on a rotary and they danced and sang in and around it, with the computerised images projected onto the back screen making it look like they were really ‘there’.  The final song included pyrotechnics across the front of the stage and up either side – it was a WOW!!!
In fact, it was SO GOOD – that upon exiting David and I decided to cancel dinner, grab a dessert and head back for the 8.15 show!  David was particularly impressed to hear a Journey song – ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ – one of his favourites.

Had to race off to the dining room at 9pm after the show to grab some dinner and our half bottle of wine!  I don’t’ think we got to bed before midnight, but clearly, tonight was one of the best nights ever!!!
